Tang Shuo was born in Guilin, China. In 2012 he graduated from Guangxi Art Institute in Nanning (China), and in 2015 he graduated from CAFA Experimental Art Department in Beijing, China. From 2020 he has lived and worked in the UK. During this period, he started to paint self- portraits to get along with himself. His personal memories take colourful forms as he tries to escape his lonely state caused by the pandemic. The canvas helps him escape into a mysterious world of possibilities. He often incorporates things from his memories, such as; places he has been to, trees from his hometown, his own cat, or a snake he saw when walking at night. ”The canvas has become my paradise. Painting is a mysterious practice for me. It is an inner feeling that cannot be expressed in words.”
