Artwork description

‘Two Nights in Venice’ is Mansbridge’s response to the city after a short visit that left her with questions of transiency and temporality. The city reminds of the long timeline of human history, a monument to all things timeless and beautiful, which in comparison to our short life expectancy causes Mansbridge to think of the imprints her art will leave as it outlives her. Mansbridge often explores questions of change, something that all living things in our planet experience, though often resist and fear. True to the artist’s form, the work is arresting and meticulous, both brave and restrained; the best of human qualities. She aims to cause powerful emotional responses, and beyond technique and subject matter, the feelings that emanate from her works are what is most important to Mansbridge.

Jasmine Mansbridge

Jasmine Mansbridge is an Australian based artist specializing in painting. Along with nine solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions, Mansbridge has also completed commissioned wall art in Melbourne, Sydney, Hong Kong and Beijing. She has also exhibited large scale installation pieces, been the recipient of various residencies and grants and is regularly interviewed about her work in many print and online publications. Mansbridge’s process of painting, both the ritual sense and the physical act, is of integral importance to the finished piece. The works are meant to be an antidote to our busy, technological and image rich daily lives. Architectural and geometric forms take up the compositions of the works as they are used as metaphors to tell stories of both personal and shared human experiences. Mansbridge has created a collection of symbolism in her works that cause us to simultaneously look inward at ourselves and also outward to the world and where we places ourselves in it.
