The second room, Whispers of Untamed Echoes, invites exploration of the delicate interplay between humanity and the natural world. Through the evocative works of Yoonjoong Cho and Yishi Chen, this space opens a dialogue with nature’s quiet yet profound voices, urban plants and sacred animals, each telling their own stories of endurance and connection.
Yoonjoong Cho immerses us in the resilience of urban plants, those often overlooked yet enduring presences in city life. Growing up in an urban landscape, Chocaptures the familiarity and strangeness of these plants, revealing their twisted forms as they adapt and thrive despite their constraints. Her spontaneous painting process brings them to life as hybrid beings, part of the city yet distinctly unique. Each piece blurs the lines between the natural and urban worlds, emerging vibrantly alive.
In dialogue with this, Yishi Chen’s paintings highlight the relationship between humans and animals, portraying these creatures as sacred messengers imbued with wisdom and strength. Her compositions juxtapose delicate human figures with commanding animals, inviting viewers to see themselves reflected in the vast, mysterious world of nature. Chen evokes a sense of protection and wonder through these beings, drawing viewers into the timeless forces of the wild.
Together, Choand Chen’s works emerge as whispered messages from the natural world, where urban plants endure quietly and animals embody profound truths, resonating with the unseen forces and transformative powers of nature.
