Georgia Dymock

Oil on canvas

100 x 180 cm

Georgia Dymock modernises figurative painting and challenges the balance between a physical and digital reality. Our identities diffuse within the digital realm, and Dymock captures them as meandering limbs compressed into the canvas space. Despite forcing us to question their humanity, she offers us to gaze upon human-resembling organisms. Their stark nakedness makes us feel a little awkward, almost voyeuristic. Are we supposed to acknowledge their presence? Their eyes avoid staring directly at us—their contrasting pink skin-pops against the cooler background. The intense juxtaposition of textures and their lack of appears unnatural. We are given a simple riddle. The confrontation with the humanoid figures allows us to question the limits of the human body and the way they are pushed more and more in the digital world. How is our reality affected by the digital reality, which we experience every day?
