Kora Moya Rojo
Oil and oil pastel canvas
80 x 100 cm
The dream-like surrealistic qualities of Kora Moya Rojo’s artworks invite us to a serene celebration of the mysterious gap between our conscious and subconscious. Her reconstructions of memories and dreams dissolve into almost surrealistic compositions, full of strange shapes and pulsating vibrant colours. Moya Rojo uses rather dynamic brushstrokes, making her artworks seem energetic and alive. We cannot be certain where exactly she takes us. We might be underwater, in a bedroom, or by a lake, or none of these. In Moya Rojo’s reality, everything is possible. As we are approached by colourful animals, plants, and inanimate objects, we must wonder about their relationship and possibly even try to inject them with our own internal conflicts. Within these dream-like realities, we also encounter several androgynous figures. Their uncertain interactions with their surroundings further challenge the balance between familiar and foreign. Moya Rojo opens doors to different realities and lets the audience answer the questions, which these realities pose.
