Artwork description

In ‘Stolen Bunch,’ Donovan depicts a salmon pink cylinder decorated with an image of a hand grasping a bunch of wildflowers. The simplistic rendering of the imagery and the use of block colours creating a sense of flatness make this piece appear with a cartoon quality, evoking a sense of childhood and fun.

Brad Donovan

Working from Hawkes Bay, New Zealand, Brad Donovan works in a solid-edged acrylic style of painting. His works have been exhibited all over New Zealand with upcoming shows in South Korea, Taiwan, and London. Often depicting objects and scenes from everyday life with stylistic inspiration from pop imagery, Donovan aims to break down these everyday sightings into simple and honest forms. With his bright colours and hyper flat canvas’, the artist’s works possess a sense of playfulness while also prompting an impression of familiarity and fun within the viewer.
