Artwork description

‘Polish Fighting Bitch’ is a painting from Weronika’s The Goddess’ body series. A fury of blue tones applied in thick oil paint fills the bottom right corner of the canvas, depicting a growling canine, the ‘polish fighting bitch.’ A thick cloud of lighter blue tones sweeps upwards from the dog’s mouth, almost like steam released in anger. This strong and furious imagery contrasts with the tranquillity of the non-descript background represented in soft beiges, pinks, and a flourish of green.

Weronika Michalska

Weronika Michalska works in a number of mediums, from painting and drawing to creating installations and short films. She has exhibited at a number of prolific spots all over the world, including Armory Artweeks in New York, or Willa Bergera in Sopot. Weronika is also a member of the Boiginie art collective, whose artists' themes center around ideas of love, equality, sisterhood, and tolerance. In her own work, she highlights topics that are most important to her, such as identity, sexuality, belonging, and emotionality. The concept of women being able to express freely on topics such as sexuality and create noise that fights against oppression and the silencing of women is a key notion in her works.
